DraftKings Daily Fantasy NBA Picks: January 23, 2013

Finally, a full slate of games, eleven to be exact! There’s a ton of value at all of the positions tonight and with the games on tap, look for some surprises. I’ll give you one right now, ready? I’m calling it right here, the Raptors beat the Heat (16-3 at home) by 6-8 points. Guys, I have mentioned this in the past and will continue to do so. Please check all status with all players before game time. You never know with these guys, your stud could be sitting because his pubic hair hurts and with that last thought here are your winning plays. Here’s some of the value play options I’ll be inserting into my Draft Kings line-ups for NBA 20K Big Wednesday Launch.

***WEDNESDAY NIGHT $50 NBA STEPS FREEROLL ALERT!!!***

Greivis Vasquez PG New Orleans Hornets ($5,700) There haven’t been many bright spots this year for the Hornets but there is always an exception to the rule. Vasquez is that exception. One other element to Greivis’ biological make-up is that he is solid as those Ginsu Steak Knives I saw advertised as a kid in the 1970’s. They never needed sharpening and neither does Vasquez. In the very first “History Repeats Itself” value-play of the day we find our hero, Greivis, sitting in front of his locker before tip-off contemplating on how many fantasy points he will finish with tonight. As he’s contemplating I’ll let you know exactly what he plans on scoring, 7-10 points more than his average against the Spurs. Yeah, I understand how well ‘Pops Kids’ play defense but they have yet to come up with an answer for Greivis. Vasquez has been solid versus them as he has averaged 12 points, 9.5 assists, 4 rebounds and 1 steal (27.5 fps) in the three meetings already this year. In each of the three starts Greivis averaged 35 minutes of floor time, he’ll get the same here but with a slight spike in overall production. Projection: 16 pts / 12 ast / 5 reb / 2 stl

Ty Lawson PG Denver Nuggets: 31 Fantasy Points

Bradley Beal SG Washington Wizards ($5,500) I still can’t believe that I’m still saying this but Bradley Beal, yes Bradley Beal, is the most productive player on the Washington Wizards team (also, keep in mind that this kid is only 19 years old). Beal is coming off one helluva bad game. No. I mean it stank! Which, in our daily fantasy strategy and vernacular is always a good thing. You ALWAYS take the cream of the crop (best player on the team) after a lousy or subpar outing. Bradley registered only 2 points along with 1 assist and 5 rebounds against Portland on Monday. I will chalk it up to an ‘off’ shooting night and roll with Bradley here as I expect a huge bounce-back game tonight. I’ll even go as far as saying that I believe he’ll hit 20 points tonight, 21 to be exact. Projection: 21 pts / 4 ast / 4 reb / 1 blk / 1 stl

Jared Dudley SG Phoenix Suns: 30 Fantasy Points

Andrei Kirilenko SF Minnesota Timberwolves ($5,600) This has got to be one of my favorite plays for tonight. I have a feeling, a good feeling that AK-47 will have one of his best games this year, fantasy point-wise that is. I truly believe that Kirilenko will outperform all players tonight at the SF position and he’ll do it easily. He will destroy this team tonight, trust me. In Andrei’s last game against the Nets earlier this year he scored 16 points, 6 assists, 10 rebounds, 4 blocks and 1 steal while logging in 33 minutes. That’s 42 fantasy points. You wanna bet he puts up 50 tonight?!Didn’t think so. Projection: 20 pts / 7 ast / 13 reb / 3 blk / 2 stl

Nicolas Batum SF Portland Trail Blazers: 37 Fantasy Points

Carlos Boozer PF Chicago Bulls ($8,100) In our second “History Repeats Itself” segment we find ourselves searching for just the right PF to get us over the hump and we have found him right out of Grimm’s Fairy Tales, I present to you “Carlos The Piston Killler” (Well, on second thought maybe the other guy had a different name, can’t remember) and he’ll continue to do to the Pistons tonight what he has done to them in the past and that is to destroy them. Look, Detroit has no answer on how to stop him so play him in all of your line-ups tonight with the utmost confidence. One of the positives of taking Boozer tonight are his recent numbers which have been huge and his previous average against this Piston team. Carlos put up a great stat line in the earlier meeting this year versus the Pistons having scored 24 points, 2 assists, 6 rebounds and 2 steals which comes to a nice tidy 36 fantasy points. I’ll come up right here and say that tonight Carlos puts up 40 fantasy points; minimum! Projection: 23 pts / 4 ast / 15 reb / 2 stl

Serge Ibaka PF Oklahoma City Thunder: 39 Fantasy Points

J.J. Hickson C Portland Trail Blazers ($5,500) For his price tag, Hickson is by far the best value-play going tonight at the center position. He will easily get more points to the dollar than any other player at center tonight. J.J.’s past performance against the Pacers was solid to say the least but I believe that Hickson could go off here and when I say go off I mean he could go off. Let me explain. We all know that J.J. is literally a double-double machine, no one’s arguing that. However, Hickson falls into one of my categories that I term “Hi-Lo”. Granted, J.J. puts up double-doubles as easy as we breathe but what kind of DD’s, that’s the question. Ya see, Hickson can put up a 14/12 or a 15/11 double-double or he could produce a 21/17 or a 24/16 double-double. Go with the latter. I am. Tomorrows headlines will read: “Hickson Goes Apecrap”, uh maybe not but you get the point. Projection: 23 pts / 2 ast / 15 reb / 2 blk / 1 stl

Tiago Splitter C San Antonio Spurs: 30 Fantasy Points

I have been involved in the fantasy sports world for 35 years now (1977) and have no desire to retire from it anytime soon - Many of my opponents just cringed at that last sentence! After I had won some of the more prestigious tournaments (FFBC took 1st place 4 of 6 years in NBA and the AAFST in which I was in the top five for 7 straight years taking 1st place twice in NFL and also placed 1st in MLB) in the 1970's and early 1980's I knew I was hooked. I play every day and am a ranked player on one of the major daily fantasy sites. I am very proud and privileged to call DFSN my home, the premier site for all fantasy players. Remember to follow me on Twitter for last minute player personnel changes as well as weather up-dates. As scary as that thought is however, it’ll allow me to help you get to the cashier's window with regularity. Gimme a follow on Twitter CrazyHorse_DFSN
