There are only four games on today’s slate but action is action and even though there will be some overlay the good thing is that there is really nowhere to hide. That’s where the value-plays come into play. That one PG who is getting that extra garbage time because of an impending blowout or just a wild hair up some coaches rear, it’s all about the value-plays. The players listed today are the players who I truly believe will make a difference in today’s light schedule. As always, please check line-up status prior to tip-off. Here’s some value plays I’ll be inserting into my DraftKings line-up for Tuesday Night’s $50 NBA Steps Freeroll.

***TUESDAY NIGHT FREEROLL ALERT!!!***

Greivis Vasquez PG New Orleans Hornets ($6,300) There is no other player tonight at the point who holds more value than Vasquez. Greivis’ price tag sits at mid-level range yet he continues to produce well above his price. Greivis always has a ton of upside each time you throw him into your line-up. One upside factor to apply for tonight’s match-up is the fact that Greivis has solid digits against this same Laker team that he faced last month. Listen, L.A. has squat as far as an answer for stopping the PG. ‘Nuff said. In his last time out against the Lakers Vasquez poured in 16 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds ending the evening with 30 fantasy points, well over Greivis’ value. Greivis should have a field day in this match-up whether Kobe tails him or not. Projection: 18 pts / 7 ast / 6 reb / 2 stl

O.J. Mayo SG Dallas Mavericks ($6,600) If there was ever a time when Mayo could use a pick-me-up, it’s now. As late he has been picking his game, which is imperative to the situation that presents itself to us in this match-up. Remember, the past re-lives itself more so in a full-season of NBA play than in any other sport. I key on that and that is a huge factor in what makes a winning or losing line-up. O.J. put a hurtin’ on this team with an upper-cut of 32 points. Yes, you read me correctly, 32 points but he also added in 1 assist, 2 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal. Added together and you’re looking at 39 fantasy points for a starter who cost one third that price. Talk about value? There is no way that O.J. doesn’t put up these same kind of numbers tonight. He has always done well against the Blazers and that trend is very unlikely to end here. Projection: 26 pts / 6 ast / 4 reb / 1 blk / 2 stls

***VALUE PLAY OF THE NIGHT***

Ron Artest SF Los Angeles Lakers ($4,600) Okay, let me start out by saying that I am well aware of the fact that his name that he uses now is Metta Whatever, I don’t ‘do’ cute. It’s difficult enough trying to keep up with the numerous teams that these bozos flip-flop back and forth to let alone keeping up with trendy, cute garbage. He was born Ron Artest and that’s what I’ll always refer to him as. Anyway, getting back to the matter at hand. Artest has been surprisingly consistent for an old man and faces a team tonight that he absolutely has had no problem with in the past. Artest meets the Hornets in which he should throw-up a huge stat line. In the earlier meeting against New Orleans Ron scored 11 points along with 1 assist, 9 rebounds and 2 steals. We need to keep in mind that his average has spiked since that last game meaning that he warrants that much more value. Piece of cake here, plus his price is still very much a bargain. Projection: 16 pts / 2 ast / 7 reb / 2 blk / 3 stl

Ersan Ilyasova PF Milwaukee Bucks ($8,300) This kid has been secretly tearing it up and flying quietly under everyone’s radar. Ilyasova over his last few games has been as productive as anyone, yes anyone. The Bucks are coming off of a very nice win against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday and Ersan was the difference. In that game Ilyasova scored 18 points (7-17 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT) along with 12 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals while logging in 35 minutes. I’ll very confidently start Ersan tonight on sheer ‘hotness’. Dig these crazy recent stats daddy-o. In his last 4 starts Ilyasova is averaging 26 points, 3 assists, 12 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal. Are you kidding me? He’s averaging 45 points in his last four games and tonight he is facing the Pistons who suck at defending the PF position. What more convincing do you need? Projection: 24 pts / 3 ast / 13 reb / 2 blk / 2 stl

Greg Monroe C Detroit Pistons ($8,100) This is one of the better plays on the whole board tonight. If there is any issue to concern ourselves with in regards to this pick it would be that this game could turn into a blow-out and starters could be benched. I’m willing to take that chance with Monroe and I’ll also be confident in the fact that if Greg does see late second-half bench time that he’ll already have reached value (or more) by that time. Easy play here as the Bucks have no answer at all on how to stop the machine that is Monroe. Plus, doesn’t hurt that in the two previous meetings already between these division rivals, Monroe is averaging a very nifty 33 points per game. I say three is a charm and gets the same production here tonight and let’s hope for a real tight and close game. Heh heh. Projection: 22 pts / 3 ast / 12 reb / 1 blk / 1 stl

***2ND TEAM***

Brandon Knight PG Detroit Pistons ($5400): 28 Fantasy Points
Monta Ellis SG Milwaukee Bucks ($8200): 40 Fantasy Points
Alonzo Gee SF Cleveland Cavaliers ($5300): 33 Fantasy Points
Tristan Thompson PF Cleveland Cavaliers ($6700): 40 Fantasy Points
Dwight Howard C Los Angeles Lakers ($8800): 36 Fantasy Points

I have been involved in the fantasy sports world for 35 years now (1977) and have no desire to retire from it anytime soon - Many of my opponents just cringed at that last sentence! After I had won some of the more prestigious tournaments (FFBC took 1st place 4 of 6 years in NBA and the AAFST in which I was in the top five for 7 straight years taking 1st place twice in NFL and also placed 1st in MLB) in the 1970's and early 1980's I knew I was hooked. I play every day and am a ranked player on one of the major daily fantasy sites. I am very proud and privileged to call DFSN my home, the premier site for all fantasy players. Remember to follow me on Twitter for last minute player personnel changes as well as weather up-dates. As scary as that thought is however, it’ll allow me to help you get to the cashier's window with regularity. Gimme a follow on Twitter CrazyHorse_DFSN
