Not the greatest of showings in my debut installment of NBA Pick Five over at StarStreet. Only cashed two of five picks with Melo and the Truth coming through. I’ll attempt to do much better this time around with a juicier group of match-ups to work with.

Though LeBron erupted for 57 fantasy points in the Heat’s first run-in with the Pistons this season, KD has been the more consistent performer versus the Kings in the L/5 overall meetings. LBJ has averaged 40.8 FPPG against the Pistons, while Durant’s averaged 42.4 FPPG during that same stretch. With Sacramento sporting the absolute worst defensive efficiency in the league, I’ll lean to KD ever so slightly in this match-up of premiere fantasy point scorers.
Unless you’ve lived under a rock this fantasy basketball season, you should know that the Lakers are in a complete state of turmoil. Losers of four in a row and eight of 10, I expect them to get back on track starting tonight at home against a Utah team that’s won each of the rival’s first two meetings; Kobe tallied an average of 37.5 FPPG in those outings. Though the Kings are an attractive opponent for Westbrook to oppose, I’m not a fan of backing a pair of Thunder players in that match-up. Kobe it is!

I’d be all over him like white on rice, however, he’s turned it over 11 times in those match-ups and he’s running up against DeMarcus whose tallied double-double each of the L/6 times he’s taken to the hardwood scoring an average of 21.6 points while reeling in an average of 13.3 caroms during that stretch. The big man is incredibly hot right now, and a big night could be in store versus an OKC defense below average in defending the center position.
Curry will take to the hardwood in an ornery mood on Friday night after just finding out he was passed over for a reserve spot in the All Star Game; he’s the highest scorer ever to not be invited. That bodes well for him here against a Bulls team that just pulled a rabbit out of its hat in coming back from 17 to defeat the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night. I’m not a fan of Rondo’s game, as it seems to be all or nothing with him, and I’m not riding the struggling Celtics on no rest. GSW has an excellent shot of pulling the outright at the UC, and if they do, Steph will be one of the main reasons why.
The roller coaster ride of a season continued this past week for Hawks big man Josh Smith. After serving a one-game suspension, the Hawks center went out and had a monster game against Charlotte (50 Fantasy Points), but it wasn’t enough to grant him an invite to the AS Game. Boston’s done a decent job against opposing bigs most recently keeping Tyson Chandler in check last night, and Smith’s failed to tally 20+ points against the C’s in the teams L/5 meetings. Kyrie’s been a man amongst boys of late most recently going off for 40 points against the C’s, but is yet to go off versus the Bucks in the previous two meetings. Look for the third time to be the charm!
